Life is busier now than it was when I only had 1 child. The first time around these moments were much easier to enjoy, but now I'm usually scrambling from moment to moment trying to stay ahead of our busy life! I am a mom of 2 under 2. I have 2 dogs..Doberman pinschers no less.(If you know dogs at all this means they require a lot of attention-it's basically like having another child.) I am very involved in my church, my husband has a busy work schedule that involves him traveling from time to time, I maintain a home and jam -packed family schedule, and somewhere in there I try to find some semblance of me...the me who isn't covered in spit up and cracker crumbs and occasionally puts on makeup! Would I trade any of that for all of Donald Trump's billions? No way...well at least today I wouldn't!
Having said all of that, most days I'm running around constantly trying to keep up, and I forget to simply stop and savor the moments that make up this crazy life I'm living! Moments like my non-cuddling daughter laying her head on my chest and snuggling for 5 seconds instead of 2, or her running back to kiss my cheek before she goes to her room to play. Moments like her asking me to color with her, or come bounce on the bed and dance to Princess Sofia. Moments like my little man smiling up at me with all the love in the world in his eyes or him giggling while I change his clothes because he has the most ticklish underarms! What do I miss because my phone is ringing, my to do list is waiting, and I'm busy trying to do chores? All of these things need done, but they will still be there waiting after I've chased my little girl around and played hide and seek, or snuggled my little dude just a few extra minutes.
To my mommy friends out there: whether you have one or ten, remember to slow down and savor the little moments in each day that make life worth living. The repetitive things we do every day are needful, but are not the only important thing. Don't weary in doing the necessities, but remember to cherish the little moments of life-because those special times are what you will remember forever...not how many times you said "no", cleaned up spills, fixed a snack, changed a diaper, or did laundry.
Before we know it, the memories are all that will be left...so make plenty!
